Feb 25, 2019 The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center, NEYAC, hosted a Level 1 & 2 Instructor Certification Course at its facilities over the weekend. Eleven Level 2 institutor candidates and one level 1 candidate were in attendance. This two-day course covered valuable information relating to archery instruction for beginner to intermediate archers. Day one of the course included training on how to safely set up an archery range, outfitting students with equipment, how to teach a beginning archery class, an introduction to the National Training System, NTS, steps to shooting, creating a class curriculum, equipment repair and working with adaptive archers. Day two of the event covered more in-depth information about NTS, working with more advanced equipment and accessories, coaching techniques for shot execution, introduction to mental management for competition, event preparation and various types of competition formats.

These courses are designed to build a pool of trained instructors that help grow archery in their communities. They are the grassroots foundation for the continued development of the sport.

“I would recommend others to attend training here (at NEYAC),” commented course participant Allen Perry of Blue Rapids, KS. “The facility is great with plenty of examples of different archery disciplines being practiced and observed. Motels are close. Instruction is presented well and by an instructor with qualified experience in archery shooting and coaching.”

Michele Mounio of Oak Grove, MN added, “I was very impressed with all of the information and hands on learning involved. I have talked to others who have taken this class elsewhere and I received a higher quality training than other people I have talked to. I drove 5 ½ hours to get to the class and would not hesitate to drive that far or further to attend another class here over the ones close to home. Thank you!”

Course trainer, Coach Josahan Jaime-Sambrano commented on the group of candidates “Congratulations to all 12 certified instructors! They did an awesome job asking questions and participating. They are all here because they have a passion for helping their community of archers. I’m looking forward to seeing how they excel in their home clubs.”

NEYAC, offers certification courses for level 1 & 2 instructors and level 3 coaches throughout the year. For more information, visit the Center website at neyac.org/certification-courses
