Instructor & Coach Certification Courses

Take your archery teaching skills to the next level.  

Archery Instructors and Coaches are the foundation of archery programs, camps, and the athlete development. Obtaining a certification provides you with valuable knowledge, hands-on skill, and boosts the marketing value of your program. USA Archery, the National Field Archery Association(NFAA), and the Archery Shooters Association(ASA), jointly recognize all certification levels.

The NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center will be hosting Level 1 and 2 Instructor Certification Courses (October 26th-27th 2019)

NFAA/USAA/ASA Archery Level 3-NTS Coach Certification

November 8-10, 2019

 

The Level 3-NTS Coach Certification Course moves away from a group instruction and focuses on individual athlete development.  Students in the Level 3-NTS Coach Certification Course will be introduced to coaching philosophy, event preparation, mental skills, training cycles/plans, equipment tuning, and receive advanced instruction on the National Training System (NTS) for Recurve and Compound.

Prerequisites 

Minimum age is 19 


Must hold a current Level 2 Instructor certification for a period of one year. 

Or verify 3 years of documented archery instructor/coaching experience.

Certification Requirements

Membership to USA Archery*, the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) or American Shooter Association (ASA) (cost associated)


USA Archery Background Screening (cost associated)


SafeSport Training (free online)


Must successfully complete the Mental Management 101 Course (Effective January 1, 2016) (cost associated)

NFAA/USA/ASA Archery Level 1 & 2 Instructor Certification

October 26-27, 2019

​

Candidates interested in the Level 1 certification can only receive their certification by attending the Saturday portion of the course. The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides graduates the necessary tools to maintain a high level of safety both on and off the archery range. Level 1 certification also ensures that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught; to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors, and spectators.  Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings. Level 1 instructors are trained in the disciplines of target, field, and 3-D archery.  The Level 1 instructor will learn about range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs, and lesson plans.

The Level 2 Archery Instructor Certification Course includes the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course, and provides students with an introduction to the National Training System (NTS) Steps of Shooting. For both recurve and compound bows, equipment, accessory setup, athlete development, and events. Level 2 also qualifies a students to teach the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course.  Graduates of the Level 2 Archery Instructor Certification Course are well prepared to serve as the lead instructor for long-term archery programs. Programs such as Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), Adult Archery Program, Collegiate Archery Program clubs, as well as the Explore Archery program.
